Hi, I'm Lisa and am now on day 4 stomach, liver and colon cleanse. I found the first two days quite hard as I am a big tea and coffee drinker. It's more so the routine of having cups throughout the day at certain times and was really tired. Day three got better tho and I actually made it to the gym! I don't think I have noticed any real differences yet... I thought the colon cleanse was going to be more intense... to be honest I haven't noticed anything really different after taking the colon care for the first 3 days... other than making me regular. I thought it was meant to flush everything out? Am I meant to be noticing anything else? I usually eat quite healthy so the diet isn't far from my normal... Any suggestions?

Hi Lisa, I’m Danielle, one of the Blackmores Naturopaths. Good on you for committing to the detox, and it is good that you have found it quite easy. Even just cutting out the caffeine can be helpful for your digestive system and particularly you’re liver. There is no need to be suffering while you detox, so even if you are not experiencing any distressing symptoms, doesn’t mean that you are not actually experiencing the improvements on the inside. The Colon Cleanse does make you more regular, that is the goal, not to have diarrhoea or discomfort. SO, my advice is to keep going on the detox, as you are, and I am sure you will notice the improvements once you have finished. You may find you even adopt some of the detox diet and lifestyle principles for the long term!

Hi Danielle, thank you for your return comments. I have since finished the 10 day detox and I have never felt better! I have stuck with the diet and also staying away from caffeine during the week, indulging only on the weekends. I found that I can actually survive without caffeine, who would have thought this was possible! I have a random question.... I noticed about six months ago I had some cellulite form on my thighs. Thinking this was my age, 28 was maybe the time for cellulite! However, since the detox it has actively reduced. I have read that cellulite can be formed from water retention... is it possible that the detox helped in making it reduce?? I'm intrigued to know! Many thanks

Is a detox a good way to start a long term diet? What detox plan do Blackmores recommend?

Hi Tracey, I think that a detox is a great way to kick off a healthy eating plan, and is an ideal time to make dietary changes that can be incorporated into your everyday menu’s. Eating well is all about education and a good detox with dietary and nutritional advice provides new ideas on what to eat and how to eat it. Feeling good is the best motivation to stick to a healthy diet and a detox is a time where you can concentrate on your diet and how this compliments a health lifestyle. So, go for it! As you can see from other members of this community a detox can be very successful. Blackmores have a ten day detox plan that you may like to consider. You can find out more about this product on our website product page. All the best, Danielle (Blackmores Naturopath)
