If you are over 25 y,o I would recommend taking marine collagen that you find online or pulse pharmacy by BIOSIS it is not expensive cost around $20 dollars x 60 capsules, also apply squalene ( shark liver oil, it does not smell at all) and is for all skin types, i do apply every night and my skin looks like 25 yo and i am 45

drinking enough water in the day, look after your liver with green salad & vegies, fish oil & primrose, eat well, stress less, epsom salt baths with bi carb & some aromatherapy oils with a carrier oil, dry brush or exfoliate every now & then, moisturize with creams or oils... use products skin & body healthy... I also so love milk baths (I use 'Coles' powdered full fat milk) Cleo loved these too... Always have clean skin before a bath.... eat food close to natural state with plenty of variety & included healthy fats, cut back on refined sugars. And include smart carbs with protiens... rose hip or argen oils are good for face before moisturiser & silicea is a great mineral for both hair & skin. And check out "Wellbeing Beauty mag as well as their Detox mag too great ref. keepsakes!!! honey, yoghurt, avocado, clays ect.. all are good to use to make natural face masks & body.

Same for me, Danielle. Whenever I include freshly made vegetable juices in my daily eating plan, my skin improves out of sight.

Avoid skin products that contain a foaming agent called sodium laurel sulfate, it dries out the skin and can contain known carcinogens. This poison dries out the skin so much so that the natural oils of your skin can clog your pores trying to get out! Sadly most supermarket cleansers, shampoos, soaps etc, contain this chemical because it's cheap. When I first googled the effects that SLS & SLES has on the body short and long term I was horrified. Try organic natural based cleansers and shampoos and watch the difference in your skin. You won't have that "squeaky clean" feel anymore but slightly oily skin ages much better than dry skin. 40 mins of moderate to intense exercise, 8 glasses of water a day & eating fresh organic produce will maintain a healthy glowing complexion.

I totally agree the skin is the largest organ & their for along with our liver is extremely important with helping ouy body detox! So we should be so careful how we look after it..So it is important to educate ourselves, so as to make informed descisions... I just tried 'A'kin' jasmine body wash... WOW awsome!!! my skin was clean & soft.. I'm going to get the sandel wood now for the rest of my family (males), as they have sensitive skin. Just add my skin was great "NO dry & itchy skin" Haveing gone through chemo...this was so important!!!

Kerryn, I also highly recomend Sukin as well as A'kin... both are great products Sukin is a bit more cheaper than A'kin. check them out on the web & fb.

Jacqueline, thankyou for the information re sodium laurel sulphate. I agree with Margaret that the lemon juice cleanser each morning, with plenty of water throughout the day is helpful for overall wellbeing.

a glass of lemon juice in warm water in the morning is a great way to start the day. having a good warm bath with sea salts or almond milk is also very rejuvenating for the whole body, and helps get rid of dead skins and external toxins. When having showers, exfoliating with the blackmores exfoliating glove or an exfoliating ball also feels orsom and is a detoxifiing action for the body. vitamin E oil is also really good for the wrinkly skin areas helps smoove it out and its cheaper than buying chic creams that have only a little vitamin e. Water fresh veggies and fruit , i agree is the the best way to go; WE ARE WHAT WE EAT, is the nutritionist bible line.

Agree to most of the above but also important to get to bed early (preferably before 11pm) and get a good nights sleep. Also Botani products are great and contain no nasties.

i agree with the above but i would also like to recommend not to eat so much chocolate coz it can make you get pimples. I only eat chocolate on those special occasions and i dont get many pimples.

eating foods that are rich in omega-3 and omega-6 is also essential for a skin health. Oily fish such as salmon, raw nuts and seeds will all contribute to a healthy glowing complexion

I find that all these ladies have got great ideas; and i think that the lemon juice in the morining is one that i will add myslef thankz for the tip. As i take magnesium with calcium and vitamin D as i have athritis; the chemist added that magnesium is also great for the skin;and as I am and older woman i have nice clear skin, and i also drink heaps of water and dont drink any fizzy drinks any more, that my sking is looking really good.

All of the above is great. I'd like to emphasise Kate's point about omega 3 and 6. Lots of Essential Fatty Acids are vital as our body doesn't make them. Flax oil for omega 3 and olive oil for omega 6. And cut out animal fats completely. You can see the difference in your skin within a short time once you increase EFAs. Also, don't drink more than 1 cup of coffee per day.

balanced diet and exercise is good, and the silica colloidal gels are great as a mask topically for acne and refreshing the skin or tablets. sea minerals have always been good for my skin, and rosehip oil.

If we want to keep our heart healthy then we must eat a healthy diet. A healthy balanced diet contains a variety of foods including plenty of fruit and vegetables, plenty of starchy foods such as wholegrain bread, pasta and rice, some protein-rich foods such as meat, fish, eggs and lentils and some dairy foods. It should also be low in fat (especially saturated fat), salt and sugar.

What are some natural beauty products/organic that are good for sensitive/acne-prone/combination skin?

Jennifer Jennifer
Jennifer | Posted 30+ days ago

Hi Sarah, my name is Jennifer I am a Blackmores naturopath. With regards to nutrients for internal skin health, I would firstly suggest zinc for acne prone skin. It has been shown to help heal inflamed acne, and is also an important mineral that benefits the immune system, and can stabilise hormones and help to lower androgen levels, especially good for women who suffer from hormonal skin conditions. Chromium and vitamin B6 are two great nutrients shown to improve pre-menstrual acne, you can get these from brewers yeast or supplements. With regards to herbs, echinacea can give your acne prone skin that boost it needs to fight any local inflammation. Does anyone have suggestions for external skin treatments?

I am a new member of Blackmores I have acne really only on the left hand side of my jaw/cheek due to what I think is stress as it started to flare up once my fiancee started to work away in the mines. I drink lots of water, exercise daily, eat healthy, use great products, have mendelic peels, take the D-Street for Women. What vitamins should I take? Has anyone tried the new Radiance Skin Purify?

Hi Cassie, stress can be a common reason for skin breakouts especially with adult skin, as it can disrupt normal hormonal balance. Outbreaks around the jaw line is common with hormone outbreaks. Hormonal outbreaks usually appear or worsen pre-menstrually. Keep in mind that if you have just started making changes, such as taking supplements it may take up to three months for improvements to be noticeable. Naturopaths believe that supporting the detoxification pathways can help with clearer better skin. Herbs such as milk thistle and dandelion have been used traditionally by naturopaths to support the liver and the skins detoxification pathways. If you would like individual advice please don’t hesitate to contact the Naturopathic Advice Service at advice@blackmores.com.au. All the best Cassie. Jennifer (Blackmores naturopath).

Hi, I have been taking Blackmore Radiance Skin Purify for 20 days, but my period for this month has delayed for 15 days. I am still waiting on it.. (I am 20 years old) I am a bit worried since my period has been quite regular for a few years. I am wondering is late period a side effect for Skin Purify? Do I need to stop taking tablets? and is there anything i can do to help bring my period back? Thanks!

Hi Yintong, what you have described is not a known side effect. I would suggest contacting the Naturopathic Advisory Service on 1800 803 760 for individual advice. Looking forward to talking to you. Jennifer, Blackmores Naturopath.

Hi Grette, this is a good question, and there is no true black and white answer. Although natural soaps can be free of additional chemical nasties, they are not pH balanced and therefore may be drying or irritating for some individuals skin. So at the end of the day it would be a personal preference as to how your skin responds to soap. Many people prefer natural cleaners for their face, as it is less harsh on the skin. It cleanses without drying the skin out. Try your local health food stores for more suggestions. All the best, Jennifer (Blackmores Naturopath). Does anyone else prefer a cleanser, or soap on their face?
