During my monthly trip to the 'personal care' aisle I usually never bother to put much thought into my product of choice. One question, and one question only, influences my decision: is it on special? Yep - good, grab it and get out of there. Over the years I've noticed the boxes changing (I do quite like the clickable box) and the packaging improving (twistable coating is so much more practical!) but at the end of the day, the end product is still the same. Does anyone out there buy a product based on anything other than its price? I'm intrigued!

Color, fragrance and all the other fancy packaging are just marketing propaganda to get your money and are not focused on a woman's health. We need to become more aware of how the make-up of this product-line affect our health. It is placed on the most sensitive part of a woman's body where there's warmth and the perfect environment for bacterial growth. Love Moon anionic sanitary napkins & panty liners have a negative ionic strip that helps to get rid of cramps, odor, fatigue, improves hormonal balance and more. Hi Michelle, I generally go for the cheapest brand. Simply because I've tried many and can't really feel the difference. However, I did come acrosss Love moon Anion sanitary pad just a month ago. I can't say much about the anion technology as I can't really see it happening (bacteria dying that is). However, I do notice less smell and it is very comfortable to wear, kind of like wearing normal cotton undies. It is rather expensive compare to generic brand but then again, Organic product are all a little pricy anyway. I don't think I'll change to a different brand. I quite like this one and it rewards me when I recommend to friends.

I stopped using tampons a year ago - started using a Mooncup & haven't looked back since. It's a bit daunting the first time you use one, but after a couple of times I wished I'd found the Mooncup years ago. Highly recommend them!

I have never been confident using tampons so i have always used sanitray pads, can i ask what a mooncup is as i have never heard of that before?

Hi Gwen, I'd never heard of that either! Bellybelly.com.au have a good article about it - www.bellybelly.com.au/.../mooncup-menstural-cup - not sure if it would be everyone's cup (pardon the pun) of tea, though...

With cotton having the highest pesticide use of any plant I like to choose organic tampons. Could all these chemicals used on the cotton made tampons be linked to the increase in diseases such as pelvic inflammatory disease and endometriosis?

Hi Vicky, it's an interesting theory but there doesn't appear to be a lot of solid evidence to support it so far. Anyone who's concerned should opt for organic like you say.

well it all scares me really i dont go for the cheapies or the coolest ones i try and use that cotton brand one if i do use a tampon but i like to use a pad tampons freak me out yuk! think about it really think about it.... and that moon cup just sounds umm weird putting anything inside you cant be good when its ment to be coming out of you i donno maybe im being anal but i say pads all the way and if your really worried you can buy washable reusable pads i find them great towards the end of my period (i also use cloth nappies on my baby so the extra washing doesnt bother me)

carefree super girl always after i got over the pads. i would never go back to pads because of the horrid smell the blood has when mixed with oxygen. so simple, quick and convenient to use a tampon.

I can't use tampons because it is far too painful for me. I can't use sanitary pads either because I live in the tropics, which mean with the high heat and humidity, bacteria forms quickly and as you can imagine, the heat "expires" the pad more quickly and it absolutely stinks! There's also the very high risk of infection with a period when you live in the tropics. I use the contraceptive pill and always skip the red pills (continuous cycle). That ensures I never get my period. But ALWAYS check with your doctor if this is ok, my doctor says it is fine for me to do it, but not every one is the same :)

i agree with comment that pads & tampons are made with chemicals and I am trying the organic ones. But I am ordering some cloth pads to try. I also use cloth nappies and don't mind washing them. But to be honest my husband is a little freaked out! But I am just getting my periods back after 3rd child and they are so heavy that I am just going through the pads too quickly and wanted to try a more cost effective option.

Not all girls like wearing sanitary pads on their panties. A few prefer tampons because of the comfort it provides. Here is how to use tampons.
