Why it’s good:
To have great digestion your gastrointestinal tract has to be in top shape. The type of food you eat is extremely important in maintaining a healthy gut and treating symptoms such as IBS, constipation and bloating.

Chickpeas, spinach, carrot, flaxseed and beetroot are high in both soluble and insoluble fibre. Fibre adds bulk to the gut which helps move bowel contents more efficiently through the digestive system.

Mint works as an antispasmodic on the muscles of the digestive system, therefore helping relieve symptoms of indigestion.

Flaxseed is high in omega 3 fatty acids. It is a soluble fibre which can help stimulate and regulate bowel movement and lubricate the passage of the intestinal wall.

Serves 2

Ingredients:

  • 1 organic gluten free wrap
  • 3 tbsp hummus
  • A few good handfuls baby spinach
  • 1 grated carrot
  • 1 grated beetroot
  • 1 teaspoon ground flaxseed
  • 2 tbsp chopped mint leaves
  • ½ avocado, sliced
  • Plenty of black pepper

Method:
Lay the wrap onto a bench and spread over the hummus.

Top with spinach, avocado, carrot, beetroot, mint, flaxseed oil and black pepper.

Roll up securely, cut into 2 portions and enjoy.

NB: good gluten free wraps are available from www.oldtimebakery.com

Benefits:
Wheat free – gluten free – low GI – healthy digestion – weight loss – vegan – antioxidants – high fibre
