How it works
Lactoferrin is an iron-binding protein naturally occurring in breast milk and in body fluids such as saliva, tears and nasal secretions. These secretions are involved in the immune system’s first line of defence.
Lactoferrin is also contained in immune cells called neutrophils. Neutrophils are white blood cells which remove and destroy foreign cells and cell waste from the body. Human lactoferrin functions as an active member of the body’s immune system and may support many of the protective roles of the immune system. It appears to be a very important part of our natural defence system.
Studies suggest that supplementation with bovine lactoferrin can support our immune system by enhancing these protective roles.
