The Blackmores difference

Vitamins C, B12 and folic acid (also included in this product) are needed for the normal formation of red blood cells. Folic acid and vitamin B12 both facilitate the body's production of haemoglobin. Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) also increases the absorption of nonhaem iron.

Another included ingredient is nettle (Urtica dioica) - a nutritive herb that has traditionally been used to assist in iron deficiencies.

Iron is an essential mineral and an important component of proteins, such as haemoglobin, involved in oxygen transport and metabolism. Iron containing foods include lean red meat, poultry, fish, oysters, dried fruit, legumes, beetroot, whole grains and tofu.

Vitamin C

Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) is a water-soluble antioxidant nutrient involved in many biological processes in the body. Vitamin C is found in a number of fruits and vegetables, great sources are capsicums, blackcurrants, oranges and strawberries.

Folic acid

A water-soluble B group vitamin, folate is involved in the synthesis of DNA and RNA and the activation of vitamin B12 into it's active form. Folic acid is found in fresh green leafy vegetables, broccoli, mushrooms, legumes, nuts and fortified cereals.

Vitamin B12

Cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12) is an essential water-soluble nutrient needed for protein and DNA synthesis, folate metabolism, and red blood cell production. Food sources of vitamin B12 include egg yolk, fish, beef, milk and cheese.

Dosage

Adults – Take 1 tablet 3 times a day with meals, or as professionally prescribed

Children under 12 years – Only as professionally prescribed

The best iron supplement I've ever taken. BUT!!! I Can't find it anywhere. Everyone seems to be out of stock. Has it been discontinued?

Hi. If I were to take this product, is the B12 quantity great enough to meet those daily needs as well? Or should I be using a B12 supplement as well as this one. Thanks in advance.

This is truly the "gentlest-on-the-stomach" iron supplement I've ever used. Other brands make me nauseous - in fact, other branded supplements generally do - but not this. I'll honestly never trust anything other than Blackmores.
