Your step-by-step guide

Click on the section below to find out all you need to know about getting prepared for this year’s Blackmores Sydney Running Festival.

1. Choose a race

This is the most important decision you need to make: which race will you commit to? There are four races to choose from: the Marathon, Half Marathon, 9 km Bridge Run and the 4 km Family Fun Run/Walk. Try something new this year and challenge yourself! Remember, you can utilise the training tools and expert advice on this website to help you prepare for your chosen race.

2. Register for the race

When you've chosen your race, make sure you register well in advance to secure your place. Registration prices and details are available on the official event website.

3. Get healthy and train up!

It's never too early to start training! On this website you'll find a range of training tools and expert advice to help you get fit, healthy and prepare for the big day.

Marathon and half marathon runners can sign up to Marathon Guru, a personalised training program that predicts your race finish time based on our training output. Marathon Guru participants will also receive free advice from Olympic marathon runner Lee Troop.

If you are after general advice about training and preparation, you can also chat to physios, naturopaths and our running trainer Peter Brett in our Blackmores Sydney Running Festival Group. View course videos and maps, read our blogs and health news about running training and chat to others who are participating in this year's race. Get involved and share your training experiences with one another on our official Facebook and Twitter pages. Start training now!

4. Collect your event kit

You will be required to collect your event kit at the Asics Event Registration Expo, Cook + Phillip Park, College Street (adjacent to St Mary's Cathedral), from 11-17 September. For opening hours and further details, visit the official event website. Your kit includes race numbers, timing chip, last minute event information and sponsor giveaways.

5. Run the race!

Your big day has arrived and all your training and hard work is about to pay off!

It is strongly recommended that you be at the Start Area (Bradfield Park, Milsons Point) at least one (1) hour before the start of your race. This will give you time to drop off your clothing to the trucks provided, use the facilities and become familiar with the Start area. Please familiarise yourself with the Start Zones (A, B, C indicated on your Chest Bib).

6.20am – Blackmores Half Marathon
7.25am – Blackmores Sydney Marathon wheelchairs
7.30am – Blackmores Sydney Marathon
8.00am – The Sunday Telegraph Family Fun Run
9.00am – The Sunday Telegraph body+soul Bridge Run

At the race start you will find toilets, meeting points, coffee, water and sponsor activities. The clothing bag drop is on Broughton Street, the Kirribilli side of the park. Please use the unique sticker provided as part of your event kit to label your clothing bag and place this bag onto the allocated truck at the earliest possible time. (Each truck will leave 20 minutes before your event).

For more information about race start visit the official event website

6. Relive the finish!

The race may be over but the fun doesn't stop there! You can relive the finish over and over again by watching yourself cross the finish line. Videos will be available shortly after the race has finished. You will also be able to view your race time and image galleries on the official event website.
