WEIGHT-LOSS ACCELERATE™

An advertisement for the product, "Blackmores Weight Loss Accelerate" which was headed "Clinically proven to help you lose up to x3 more weight than diet and exercise alone" on the Blackmores website, along with an associated radio advertisement about ‘new and exciting all natural ingredients to help accelerate weight loss results’ should not have been published or broadcast.

Consistent with the above headline, the advertisement made claims (or inferred) that Blackmores Weight Loss Accelerate could help people lose up to three times more weight, than diet and exercise alone, that the product could "accelerate weight loss results" and that the product was "clinically proven".

These claims were found to be in breach of the Therapeutic Goods Advertising Code on the basis that they were incorrect, not balanced, unverified, misleading and likely to arouse unwarranted or unrealistic expectations of product effectiveness. Further, the Complaints Resolution Panel found advertisements did not have an appropriate balance between the claims and the references to healthy energy-controlled diet and physical activity.

Complaints about the advertisements were recently upheld by the Complaints Resolution Panel, which requested that Blackmores Limited publish this retraction.
