The patented formula in PAW Denamarin® combines the benefits of S-Adenosylmethionine (SAMe) and Silybin in one tablet when maximum liver support is needed.

  • The specific silybin used in Denamarin has been shown to provide better bioavailability in dogs and cats compared to the standardised milk thistle commonly available in health food stores and over-the-counter in pharmacies.1
  • Provides comprehensive liver support with two active ingredients SAMe and Silybin.
  • May protect against negative effects on the liver caused by some medications.2
  • May enhance levels of glutathione for better detoxification.
  • Silybin A+B acts as an antioxidant, helping protect against reactive oxygen compounds.
  • Very high safety profile.3,4,5,6

Why use

PAW Denamarin® is sold exclusively through veterinary clinics as adjunctive treatment for liver disease or dysfunction, such as the following:

  • Chronic hepatitis
  • Hepatic lipidosis
  • Cholangiohepatitis
  • Paracetamol toxicity
  • Corticosteroid use (Note: does not prevent corticosteroid induced hepatic vacuolar change)
  • Other acute or chronic hepatopathies, including hepatotoxins and neoplasia.

The Blackmores difference

When the liver function is compromised, the exact cause can often be difficult to determine. Supporting the liver, regardless of the cause, is essential if function is to be improved.

Absorption of Denamarin® is decreased when it is given with a meal.

For optimal absorption, administer Denamarin® at least one hour before feeding your pet. For owners who find it difficult to administer tablets to their pets, Denamarin® tablet(s) may be disguised in a small bite of moist food. It is not necessary to withhold water from your pet when giving Denamarin®.

In cats, tablets or capsules can “stick” in the throat instead of passing into the stomach. Therefore, cat owners should gently administer a small amount of water (ask your veterinarian for details) immediately following tablet administration to aid swallowing.

Denamarin® tablets should not be broken as the enteric coating of the Denamarin® tablet protects the active ingredient from destruction while in the stomach. The number of tablets can be gradually reduced or increased at any time depending on the pet's needs. When increasing or decreasing the dose, adjustments should be done in full tablet increments.

Many pets are maintained long-term on every-other-day or every-third-day administration.

Nutritional information

S-Adenosylmethionine (SAMe) in Denamarin® has been shown to increase levels of the antioxidant glutathione, which is an important compound which assists in the efficient functioning of the liver and provides protection of this important organ against toxins. Although SAMe is naturally produced by the liver, its production is decreased when the liver is compromised, leading to suboptimal levels of glutathione.

Silybin (derived from milk thistle) supports oxidative balance and helps the flow of bile through the liver. Bile is important in aiding digestion and nutrient absorption. Silybin may also support levels of glutathione which is an important compound protecting liver health. The silybin found in Denamarin® is complexed with phosphatidylcholine, which has been shown to increase absorption compared to standardised milk thistle extracts.
