FODMAPS are a group of dietary carbohydrates or sugars that are poorly absorbed and fermentable. ‘FODMAP’ stands for Fermentable, Oligosaccarides, Disaccharides (lactose), Monosaccharides (fructose) and Polyols (sorbitol, mannitol, xylitol and maltitol).

Symptoms such as bloating and wind may occur in the digestive system due to the fermentation of FODMAPs.
Probiotics are good bacteria that are naturally present in our gut. They help maintain the natural balance of good bacteria in the intestines and other areas in the body. Lactobacilli and bifidobacteria are good bacteria which are naturally found in the digestive system.
Prebiotics are particular types of fibre that nourish and support the healthy growth of good bacteria.

Thanks Blackmores. Your probiotics bowel support has been a wonderful discovery for me. I am a fructose/fructans malabsorber on low fodmap diet and find this has almost eliminated my symptoms, possibly because it’s giving me fibre lacking in my diet. I give it a big tick of approval.
