Pet Appreciation Week

1 mins to read

Aussies will ‘paws’ to celebrate their pets this week (5th – 11th June) for the first ever official Australian Pet Appreciation Week.

Australia is home to over 25 million pets, more than the country’s population, with most families seeing their four legged friend as part of the family. PAW by Blackmores will this week pay tribute to our furry friends, with the aim of showcasing the importance of appreciating our pets and their health.

Pet Expert Dr Katrina Warren said Pet Appreciation Week is a time to celebrate how much our pets mean to us.

“It’s the perfect opportunity to focus on how we can ensure we give our pets the precious gifts they offer us – the opportunity to be happy, healthy and able to enjoy the best in life, Dr Warren said.

We know pets have a profound impact on our health, with studies showing pets help to improve our psychological and overall wellbeing, improve heart health and even impact our immune system. But what about how we can reciprocate and help keep our pets healthy?

PAW by Blackmores has come up with a range of ideas for you to pamper your pet with their health in mind.

Dog Owners:

Cat Owner:

Note: Your cat will probably hate you for mixing up the doggy ideas above.

  • Play: Spend some dedicated time playing with your cat. Even older cats will enjoy a piece of string or a flash light beam to chase.
  • Worship: Pamper your cat with a gentle worshipping brush using a massage grooming glove.
  • Moisturise: For cats with dry or scaly skin, use some Dermoscent® Essential 6® spot-on for Cats to nourish and replenish their coat.
  • Tasty tummy chew: Boost their good bacteria with PAW DigestiCare 60™ multi-strain probiotic powder
