Frequently asked questions

Newborn formula is suitable from birth and, for non-breastfed infants, can be a sole source of nutrition.

A Follow-on formula is to be used from 6 months of age, around which time complementary foods start being introduced into the diet. These formulas are nutritionally adapted to the needs of the growing child.
We are unable to provide samples directly as we abide by the MAIF (Marketing in Australia of Infant Formula) Agreement. Under this agreement, infant formula companies are not able to provide samples of infant formula to the general public. We recommend you talk to your healthcare professional for further advice.
Yes, there are no problems with a baby over 6 months continuing with Newborn Formula if they prefer it. We recommend they move to our Toddler Milk Drink when they are 12 months of age.
Our Newborn Formula for 0 – 6 month olds and our Follow-on Formula for 6 to 12 month olds are nutritionally balanced, containing proteins from fresh cow’s milk and other essential nutrients that are age appropriate and meet the strict nutritional requirements identified by Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ). If you require further information and for individual advice, please consult your healthcare professional.
Follow the instructions for preparing the bottle as directed on the container. The feeding guide will give the proportions of the powder required. Incorrect preparation can make your baby very ill so always follow instructions on pack.

Each baby’s nutritional needs and appetite vary from baby to baby and day to day. As a carer you will learn to read the signs your baby makes when he/she is hungry.

If you are unsure about the feeding requirements of your baby you should check with your health care professional.
We always recommend that you read the label before using our products. For a free, personalised service or help and advice with breastfeeding, please do not hesitate to contact Blackmores IBCLC lactation consultant and infant nutrition advisor on 1800 803 760.

Did you change packaging? There is not text "TATURA" and number "80" (change to number 85)?
Hi, Why no Omegas?
andrew 30 Jan 2019
The instructions keeps referring to a mysterious "scoop provided". I can't find it. Either it was missed in the can or please design a better product such that it is idiot proof. We are really tired new parents, we are already dealing with so many new information, the last thing we want to deal with is finding a scoop for a first child. Never buying another Blackmores formula again.

Welcome to the Blackmores Infant Formula website. Please take a moment to read this important message:

Blackmores supports breastfeeding as the best nutrition for babies.

If you are considering an alternative to breastfeeding, please consult your health care professional.

  • Breastfeeding provides the right amount of nutrients needed for baby’s healthy growth particularly in the first 6 months.
  • Breastfeeding transfers antibodies and other protective factors that help protect baby against common infections.
  • Breastfeeding will help a mother’s womb return to normal size and assist in using up the extra fat stored in preparation for making breast milk.
  • Frequent breastfeeding will provide nipple stimulation and help to increase a mother’s milk supply to meet the needs of her growing baby, so it may be difficult to return to full breastfeeding if parents decide to partially formula feed a breastfed baby.
  • Parents should always consider the social and financial implications before selecting a method of baby feeding.
  • Formulas should always be prepared and used as directed. Improper use of infant formula, such as the use of unboiled water, incorrect dilution or unhygienic bottles may cause your baby to become ill.
