Blackmores Mercie Whellan Women+Wellbeing Awards 2019

Terms and conditions

1. Eligibility criteria

  • All nominees must be women, residents of the Greater Sydney region or working with people in the Sydney region, aged 18 and over on 7th March 2019. 
  • Greater Sydney (Greater Capital City Statistical Area), as classified by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, extends from Wyong and Gosford in the north to the Royal National Park in the south and follows the coastline in between. Towards the west, the region includes the Blue Mountains, Wollondilly and Hawkesbury and includes the following local government areas/councils. View map
  • Nominees for the YoungBeing Award must be between the ages of 16 and 22 on the 7th March 2019.
  • Nominees meeting the above criteria upon completion the nomination form will be eligible pending completion of a reference check to confirm nomination.
  • An awards ceremony will be held on in Sydney on the 7th March 2019 from 6pm to 10.00pm. Finalists need to be available to attend the event in order to be eligible to win an award. 
2. Nominations
  • Nominations will be accepted from Friday 1st February 12pm (AESDST) with the website closing to submissions at 12.00am Sunday 24 February 2019 (AESDST). 
  • Previous finalists are eligible to enter. Past winners are eligible only for the major award – The Mercie Whellan Wellbeing Award. 
  • Nominations must address all of the criteria on the nomination form including but not limited to:   
    -   Who they are nominating
    -   Where do they do their community work (location/needs to be from Greater Sydney)  
    -   In what category (thinking about the descriptions above) 
    -   Why they are nominating them. Up to 200-word summary of achievements and contribution 
    -   Name contact/details of person nominating
    -   Name contact details of nominee 
    -   Demonstration of impact on the community
  • Hard copy nomination forms will not be accepted.
  • Nominees can either self-nominate or be nominated by another person, if a nominee self-nominates they are required to provide full contact details including an email address and mobile phone number of a referee who can vouch for the validity of their nomination. 
  • Nominators must provide full contact details for themselves and their nominee including email address and mobile phone contact.
  • Nominees will be contacted by Blackmores for further information and checking.
  • Nominees will be contacted via email to request additional information including a photo and biography.
  • All nominees will be advised of the person who nominated them.
  • A nominee can be entered into more than one category using separate nomination forms.
  • All nomination forms and materials submitted remain the property of Blackmores
3. Selection and judging panel
  • The judging panel is comprised of Blackmores Senior Executives as well as members Senior Executives of CCNB.  
  • Blackmores and CCNB reserve the right to change the category for which an individual is nominated.
  • The judging panel's decision is final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.
  • The judging panel reserves the right to add more prize categories or invite more finalists to the award ceremony event. 

4. Prizes

  • Winners will be selected on the merit of their nomination application. The judging panel's decision is final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into
  • One (1) winner for each of the categories below will be awarded the following - (a) $1000 prize money and (b) Participation in CCNB's leadership mentoring program – the Leader’s Room (consisting of six sessions with inspirational guest speakers, skills development, mentoring with Blackmore senior staff, site visits and celebration). The purpose is to support and build each participant’s leadership capability, personal networks and energy for change (c) Blackmores Product Hamper valued at $200 (RRP). 

    -   StrongBeing: Everyday women who have shown courage and determination to overcome adversity in their personal lives and inspire others. 
    -   CommunityBeing: Caregivers who work tirelessly for others including carers, health and community care professionals.
    -   ChangeBeing: Women who through bold acts of leadership, advocacy and/or education have achieved positive health outcomes for the community.
    -   YoungBeing: Young women aged 16-22 who have achieved extraordinary social change for their community’s wellbeing through passion, commitment and vision.
  • One (1) runner-up for each category below will be awarded the following- (a) $250 David Jones Voucher, (b) Blackmores Product Hamper valued at $200 (RRP). 

    -   StrongBeing: Everyday women who have shown courage and determination to overcome adversity in their personal lives and inspire others. 
    -   CommunityBeing: Caregivers who work tirelessly for others including carers, health and community care professionals.
    -   ChangeBeing: Women who through bold acts of leadership, advocacy and/or education have achieved positive health outcomes for the community.
    -   YoungBeing: Young women aged 16-22 who have achieved extraordinary social change for their community’s wellbeing through passion, commitment and vision.
  • One (1) finalist will be selected from nominees across all categories to win the Mercie Whellan Wellbeing Award and will be awarded the following – (a) Prize money of $2000 (b) Participation in CCNB's leadership mentoring program – the Leader’s Room (consisting of six sessions with inspirational guest speakers, skills development, mentoring with Blackmore senior staff, site visits and celebration). The purpose is to support and build each participant’s leadership capability, personal networks and energy for change (c) Blackmores Product Hamper valued at $200 (RRP).

5. Privacy

  • Personal information about nominees and nominators provided will only be used for the conduct and promotion of the Blackmores Mercie Whelan Women+Wellbeing Awards.

6. Additional requests

  • Finalists may be required to complete a National Police Background Check request form which will be provided following nomination.
  • Finalists will be asked to provide a recent photo and a short biography.
  • Finalists may be asked to participate in media or publicity in relation to the awards or the award ceremony event. 
  • Upon returning a signed permission form, nominees selected as finalists grant permission for Blackmores to use the information disclosed in their nomination at our discretion including for, but not limited to, media and promotional purposes.
