I had this epiphany after peeping into my three year old’s disastrous toy room. It’s full of things he has played with once or twice and promptly discarded (or mangled beyond recognition) - presents admired and swiftly forgotten. So I’m determined to think outside the box when it comes to gift giving.
With that in mind I’m giving the toy aisle a wide berth, opting instead to surprise my son with chickens on Christmas morning - and not the cooked variety!
I’m talking two, 12-week old Isa Brown hens (complete with a coop). We’re also in the middle of writing a personalised storybook (featuring the little man himself as the main character), along with a homemade sandpit.
I’m into the idea of instigating more family traditions, too. Things like early morning walks and watching festive movies together. Things that give you goose bumps and make your remember why Christmas and holidays are so special.
I’m not sure how we’ll fare but I’ll keep you all posted. Fingers crossed for a very happy and tantrum free Christmas and holiday season for all!
