In the last month, I have undergone a radical spring clean of my office, bedroom and wardrobe. The clutter had grown to the point where I said - enough is enough. In fact, I had more than enough, which was the underlying problem.
After re-discovering my long lost workout ipod and swimming goggles, it made me realise that having too much "stuff", or having your "stuff" disorganised, can impact upon your wellbeing. My firm belief is that clutter and disorder is stressful.
How can you clearly focus on your goals and priorities when constantly dealing with clutter and mess? It can alter your mood, and make it harder to motivate yourself to be healthy.
An organised house helps you to live an organised life, where things like meal planning and exercise are more likely to happen. It's a reflection on your mindset, your motivation and your body.
Think about your kitchen. The pantry and fridge are centre-points of your diet. Sorting through the good and getting rid of the bad can make a big difference to the way that you eat. Clearing your kitchen of temptation is a positive step towards a better diet in the future.
The same rules apply to your wardrobe. Don't keep old "fat" clothes just in case you grow back into them. The thought shouldn't even enter your mind. Have a prominent place for your workout gear, or even a spare shelf where you can have a complete exercise outfit ready to grab first thing in the morning.
Manage the muddle, and you will better manage yourself.
Do you agree that clutter is stressful, and can impact on your health? Could you do with a Spring clean?
