This is a question I posed to a few friends recently and, for families on a tight budget, it’s particularly good news.
The women I spoke to all said they didn’t wish for expensive gifts or fancy meals out. Unanimously these mums wanted to enjoy a relaxed family day with their children and husbands. In essence, as corny as it sounds, the cliché – it’s the thought that counts, rings true. So although things like professional facials and massage gift vouchers are popular last minute gifts, why not offer to personalise such a service yourself?
A 45-minute neck and back massage given by a loved one (so long as they are semi skilled!) can be hard to beat. If this isn’t quite your cup of tea don’t worry, the thing that topped the wish list requires less effort but is just as affordable.
Most mums said what they really wanted was to relax on Mother’s Day. This could be a sleep in or time off for a swim or jog, followed by breakfast or lunch with family.
So dads and kids - put your wallets away and your thinking hats on ahead of Sunday, you know she deserves it!
Have you ever given or been given, a thoughtful or touching Mother’s Day gift? Let us in on what it was or, mums; tell us what your perfect Mother’s Day might look like (you never know who could be reading!).
