Are you confused about recycling? Learn more about our standards, labeling and how to recycle your Blackmores products. By doing your bit recycling saves resources that would otherwise end up in landfill, reduces carbon pollution, saves energy and water, and is a really valuable effort to participate in. Happy recycling!

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

We have all heard that catch phrase, but what does it mean?

  • It means choosing products with less packaging and impact on the environment.
  • It means buying only what you need.
  • It means choosing durable long-lasting items.
  • It means cutting down on energy usage and waste.

Reduce – Avoid creating waste

For example: choose to buy recycled materials, avoid plastics and packaging or biodegradable items such as coffee pods, use coffee cups and reuseable shopping bags, have a compost bin, buy local, ethical, seasonal food and start your own herb and vegie garden.

Reuse – Use things more than once and again to keep them out of landfill

For example: host a clothing swap or buy secondhand clothes or decorate old supplement bottles into mini flowerpots, pencil or paint holders, or use them as storage for items such as paper clips, buttons or bobby pins.

Recycle – Turn old materials into something new

For example: choose recyclable materials when buying and add recyclable clean plastic, paper and aluminium to your curbside or container deposit recycling where they are sorted, decontaminated and are diverted from landfill to build new raw materials.

Do you know what all those recycling symbols on your product labels mean?

Here is a breakdown from the Australasian Recycling Label (ARL) to help you recycle packaging correctly. It gives clear, evidence-based instructions you can trust and is also the only label of its kind in Australia and New Zealand.

For the best results, always dispose of your packaging emptyclean and dry.

Here at Blackmores, not only are we are committed to increasing our use of recycled packaging and waste reduction - because you can’t have healthy people without a healthy planet - but did you know 98% of our packaging is also recyclable?

We are a signatory on the Australian Packaging Covenant showing our commitment to a sustainable future by redesigning our packaging to be simpler and easier to recycle. Many of our glass bottles now contain up to 30 percent recycled content, our steel cans include recycled material and most of our cardboard is made from recycled fibre. We’re also embedding packaging assessments into our product development, so sustainability is considered from the beginning.

Most Blackmores packaging is kerbside recyclable. Glass bottles, cardboard boxes, steel cans and many closures can go straight into your home recycling bin.
