A rich source of nutrients, each glass provides roughly 135mg of magnesium, equating to over 40% of the RDI (Recommended Daily Intake) for adult females and a third of the RDI for adult males. Our bodies require magnesium to support muscle growth, contraction and nerve function. Magnesium is a particularly important mineral for active adults and children of all ages.
Ingredients
Serves 2
Prep time 5 minutes
Vegan, Vegetarian, Dairy Free
2 large frozen bananas, peeled and roughly chopped
- 2 Medjool dates, pitted
- ½ cup rolled oats
- 2 tbsp oat bran
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
- 1.5 cups soy milk
- 1 cup ice
- 2 tbsp peanuts
- 1 tbsp dark chocolate, finely grated
How to make
Place the banana pieces, dates, rolled oats, oat bran, cinnamon, soy milk and ice in the jug of a blender. Blitz until mixture is thick and well combined.
- Divide mixture between two glasses. Top with peanuts and dark chocolate shavings.
Notes
Using soy milk is a great way to bump up the magnesium here, feel free to use regular dairy milk if you would prefer.
Smoothies are best consumed immediately.
